Asus Transformer 2

Asus officially unveiled the Transformer 2 on November 9th. However, they did give the media some surprising news. The Transformer Prime will not be shipped until December. The first day the Transformer Prime sometime in January. Asus has a reputation of delaying the release of its products and it appears that the Asus Transformer Prime is no different. Google has now released the source code to Android 4.0 which should mean the Transformer 2 will have Android 4.0 on it when it is shipped, hopefully.



In Quarter 2 of this year, Asus announced they will be releasing the transformer 2 in Q4 of 2011. As we stated earlier, this is untrue. Good news is that the Kal-El CPU (the one that is going to be in the Transformer 2) has debuted on the ZTE98. Android Ice Cream Sandwich was unveiled on 10/18/2011: Android Ice Cream Sandwich.The initial price for the Transformer 2 will be $499. This is extremely cheap considering the hardware and software components of the TF201. Asus is planning on making money on the trendy keyboard dock that is available with it.

Build of the Asus Transformer 2

The Asus Transformer is built uniquely. There is nothing quite like it on the tablet market. The tablet itself has the dimensions of 7x10x.5 which is quite remarkable for a tablet its size. What makes it truly unique though, is its keyboard dock. This isn’t just any keyboard dock, this dock stores extra battery life, storage capacity, and a great keyboard for typing essays and papers. The build of the Asus Transformer is king of any tablet on the current market, and we do not expect the Asus Transformer 2 to be any different.

Asus just also published the fact that the Transformer 2 will have 12 hours of battery life without the keyboard dock and up to 18 hours of battery life with the optional keyboard dock. This is almost unrivaled in the Android tablet market.

Display of the Asus Transformer 2

The display of the Transformer 2 is going to 10.1 inches. Asus has also confirmed that it will be an IPS Gorilla Glass display which will provide spectacular viewing angles. The Transformer 2 will also have an unprecedented 178 degrees of viewing angles, meaning you can still see a clear picture if your eyes are almost parallel to the screen.

Hardware on the Asus Transformer 2

The Asus Transformer 2 is going to be the first tablet to have a NVIDIA Kal-El CPU. This is also known as the Tegra 3 processor. This is revolutionary computing power for a tablet. This processor will provide blazing speeds for the Asus Transformer 2. It is rumored that Asus has ordered nearly 4 million of these processors to put in their next line of tablets. Software on the Asus Transformer 2

The Transformer 2 is going to be setting industry standards in this category as well. This tablet is going to be the first run Android Ice Cream Sandwich. The release of the Transformer 2 is also dependent on the release of Android Ice Cream. This OS is rumored to be released in Q4 of 2011, which makes sense as that is when the Transformer 2 is suppose to be released as well.

Overall we are extremely excited for the Transformer 2. The Transformer 1 set the bar high, but we believe Asus can outdo themselves again. It is rumored that Asus isn’t making any money on the tablets themselves, they plan to rake in the profits with the external keyboard dock. The Transformer 2 is going to be priced very competitively at $499.
